G.I. Joe star Lee Byung Hun recently attended a trip to Africa to volunteer in Mali.

For the twentieth anniversary of the United Nations, KBS filmed a special called “2011 The Road of Hope- The Long March.” For the film, Lee Byung Hun traveled to Mali, Africa to help children suffering from malnutrition and poor health.

On the first day that he arrived to Mali, the village was very anxious and nervous because of Osama Bin Laden’s recent death. For this reason, it was tricky filming in certain locations, and inevitably, the camera crew, staff, and PD’s had to evacuate certain areas. To make matters more complicating,The Ministry of Foreign Affairs required that the group report its location and status regularly.

However, this didn’t stop Lee Byung Hun from going. Even in a pressing situation, he stood by the children, supporting them as they underwent surgery for their eyes, which are slowly giving out.

A PD from the site reported. “Despite knowing about the hardships and complication situation beforehand, Lee Byung Hun volunteered to go. His sense of compassion is amazing.” The PD added, “He is very charismatic and manly in the movies, but in Africa we saw his true personality come out- he’s a very warm person.”

Not only is he super sexy and attractive, but he also has a huge heart! His smile in these pictures is so genuine.

Currently, he is working on finishing “G.I. Joe: Retaliation”, which is set to hit theaters in June 2012.
